These conditions must be met before booking a patient through the online portal

 

1) How old is the patient?

We do not see anyone less than 12 years old and all minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

• Spectera

• Medicaid

• Absolute Total Care

• First Choice by Select Health of South Carolina

• Healthy Blue by Blue Choice of SC

• Humana Healthy Horizons in SC

• Molina Healthcare of SC

                 THEN Inform the caller: 

"It looks like we do not participate with those plans if it is your primary or only insurance.  But we would be happy to see you as a cash pay patient and YOU would be able to file the claim to your insurance company to get reimbursed.  Do you want me to continue booking the appointment"

4) Read to caller before booking an appointment.

"There are a few things I need to cover before I can book the appointment.

We are not able to offer triage services over the phone. 

 

The information you provide today will not be reviewed by a physician until your scheduled appointment. 

 

By choosing to seek care at an outpatient facility you do not believe your condition requires urgent or emergent attention.  

 

If your condition worsens, you agree to call back and notify the office or go to the nearest emergency room.

1) Do you accept Medicaid?

​

"We can not accept Medicaid plans if it is your primary or only insurance.  But we would be happy to see you as a cash pay patient."

"It really depends on the type of insurance you have and the details of the contract you signed when you applied for coverage."

 

Note:  Only disclose the following if the caller is going to be cash pay. "The estimated cost for a complete eye exam without insurance would be around $180.00"

3)  Do you accept vision plans?

​

"We do not accept any vision plans but we can still file through your regular health insurance which allows you to apply all your vision benefits towards your glasses and/or contacts."
